This site is dedicated to the branch of the Don Francisco Elias González de Zayas family, descending from Manuel Elias Bueras and Albina Montiel Elias Ballasteros and their relatives. Don Francisco left Spain for the New World in 1720. Eventually, he settled in Sonora, Mexico/Arizona. Everyone has a place in their family that is important. We hope these pages tell you a little about your place within the Elias family.

The "cousins" held the first reunion in 2005. 258 family members gathered to renew old relationships, form new ones, and meet the new members. They learned of the contributions made by the Elias family to both United States and Mexican history.

A second Elias Family reunion was held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 in Sonoita, Arizona at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds Building. 100 family members gathered together again meeting new relatives from parts of the family that had seemed lost. A granddaughter and great grandson of Ramón and two granddaughters of Petra as well as several of the descendents of Anastacio joined the celebration. In addition two families descending from Manuel, Abundio's brother, shared the evening and information. Armando Elias, a grandson of Manuel, has written a book called La Familia Elias, which is due to come out November 2008. Montserrrat Fontes talked of her grandmother Encarnación, the history she lived, and how it impacted her growing up.
