Don Francisco Elias Gonzales de Zayas was born in 1704 in Soto de Cameros, La Rioja, Spain as a descendant of Lorenzo Luis Elias Romero. He emigrated to the New World in 1720 arriving in Alamos, Sonora in 1729. He married Agueda Maria Campoy that same year. She died in 1740 with no children. Don Francisco then married Doña Maria Ignacia Diaz del Carpio. They had seven children establishing the Elias family in the Sonora area of Mexico. This is their family tree.
